Cold Salads
Mixed Greens Salad (with an adoring, and adorable, fan)
No two Mixed Greens Salads are the same. We use hand-picked, market locally fresh greens and herbs, even, with your blessing, seasonal fruit, such as plums or pears. The salads also feature our handmade croutons (which is what people really want to know when they ask for our recipe for "salad"). Typically, we use balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil as dressing. We can add cheese - anything you like, including our own marinated vegetables. |
We love Fruit Salads. They get a bad rap for being "overdoctored". But, you know, there's nothing quite as refreshing as ripe, seasonal fruits combined simply. We love them unadorned, and we also quite like them with our own yogurt/lime dressing - not heavy or gloppy. Complimentary and fresh. We know you want to taste fruit in your fruit salad. So we stay the heck out of the way. |
Bean Salads don't have to be dull. Or cloyingly sweet. They can be colorful and spicy and tart. They should be delightful, because beans are delightful. So we use all kinds of beans, lots of garlic, lots of spices (chipotle and cumin, among others), a light vinaigrette, chopped onions and tomatoes. You know - it's really good. Surprise your friends and yourself. |
Pasta Salads? You bet. And we'll make it any way you want it. Our favorite is with artichokes, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and a citrus/rice vinegar dressing. What's your favorite? |
Yes. We've done Jello salads in our professional capacity. No. You don't have to be embarrassed. We know that Aunt Hattie insists. Our Aunt Hattie is just exactly the same. Relax. Your secret is safe with us. |
